Trip highlights

The old Gurkha palace has situated at the top of hill from where majestic Himalaya’s scenery makes spellbound to every visitor. Major attraction of Gurkha is the goddess Gurkha kalika and Gorakhnath cave, which is symbolically the mighty of Nepal. Every day many devotees have used to make pilgrimage there to get, the mighty bless from Gurkhakalika and Guru Gorakhnath.

300 years ago, Nepal was divided into 50 tiny states and Gorkha was one of them. King Prithivi Narayan Shah, the founder of `Shah Dynasty which symbolically rules Nepal today, unified Nepal into one kingdom. His Gorkha palace resided at the top of a hill so he could watchover all his subjects. Gorkha is also home to the famous Gurkhas, the legendary brave warriors who fought with knives against guns. Gurkhas were known as such good fighters that the British empire would often hire them to fight in the british army.

The area is full of natural beauty, panoramic views, rolling green hills, unspoilt jungle areas, lakes, caves, waterfalls and flora. When the sky is clear, you can see the Manaslu and Himalchuli Mountains and panoramic views of the valleys. Accessible from Kathmandu and Pokhara, there is a one day walk to the model tourism village. Village treks can be undertaken while experiencing village and rural life, as well as visiting the majestic hill-top palace of Gorkha Bazar.

Accommodation is in individual guestrooms with host families or in between villages, in tents. During trekking, meals are provided by professional teams and visitors can try the delicious Nepali Daalbhaat consisting of locally produced rice, lentils and garden fresh organically grown vegetables. The guestrooms are simple yet clean and cozy, with latrines available and a water tap close by.
