Medical camp service Trek 2015

Beginning of September, a team of 14 international volunteers and Nepali staffs went on for a 10 days medical expedition in the mountains in the Langtang area, North of Nepal. The objective of this expedition was to offer free health advice, free medicine and free osteopathic services to poor villagers who can’t afford seeing a doctor.

The expedition visited three villages and offered help to around 250 people, from babies to 90-years old farmers. Walking from one village to the other usually took about 3 hours. Every time, 8-13 porters were involved to help us carrying the camping material.

Frequent health problems in this area are back and knee pain due to frequent transportation of very heavy loads on steep trails. Regarding this, the French osteopathic practitioner was of utmost help. Other common issues were sight problems due to the lack of sun protection and natural aging. Also, many people suffer from gastric problems related to the fact that they eat very spicy food, and start the day by drinking tea with an empty stomach before going to work in the fields, which increases negatively the acidity in the stomach.

Thanks to all involved people for making this possible. These medical expeditions are really important to villagers, and bringing this small relief means much to them.
